VIBHU KHER

Vibhu is an Indo-Canadian writer and blogger, with a bachelors in Political Science and currently pursuing a Masters in Public Policy. She has always been passionate about how human behaviour shapes societies and economies on the larger. Being South Asian in heritage and raised in Canada, Vibhu leads a lifestyle that gives her the unique opportunity to utilize and alternate between multiple perspectives. Seeing the world with two different lenses gives her an edge on social and political matters.

Vibhu’s interest in policy began during her undergraduate degree and also amidst a critical time in her life when she was clinically diagnosed with depression. Vibhu has experienced and battled depression for six years causing immense introversion but also gave her a mode of reflection. The melancholic feelings associated with depression allowed her to think deeper and gave her the opportunity to recreate a new persona. As she sat with the depression and became more self-aware, she harboured a hobby in writing, and policy research devised from journaling and academic research. This allowed Vibhu to analyze many policy initiatives and social environments through a different perspective.

During her education she studied political and societal structures, institutions and economic systems. Becoming well-read in areas such as mental health, education, lifestyle, diet and more. Later forming an articulated opinion of her own, being the template of this blog.

Her writing is primarily her informed thoughts on education and society. During her undergraduate degree she realized how the university environment and specializations were killing creativity within students. She also felt restricted in her own program. But, understood that venturing out of university was not necessarily an answer. She noticed that many who lacked education and were creative also required education to enhance creativity and those who held strong academic backgrounds lacked creativity outside the university desperately prioritizing a GPA score. As she was near the end of her degree, there was a giant gap between academics and creativity as if they were polar opposites. This sparked her interest in the social construction of society and these thoughts later paved her career into public policy.

This blog is primarily an outlet for free flow writing with some research as Vibhu immerses into her thoughts with regards to multiple fields in the societal and policy sector. Known to be an idealist and a millennial who grew up watching fairy tales and Bollywood love stories, she intends to bring an interesting perspective to this platform with respect to her educational background and her upbringing.
